Some new sign-ups for Colocataires. I installed RockyLinux 9 for the first time. (10 did not like our hardware).
Got a DC trip planned at the long-weekend and we'll rack a new server, a new switch, and install an 10GiB-LR SFP+ which will let us join our local internet exchange. That's exciting stuff!
As predicted, I was nerd-sniped by guix. I continue to be. I don't know why, I think perhaps a mix of not liking Nix' language, and not liking procedural tools like Ansible.
I think I can firmly add Ansible to a list of things that I was wrong about. At iWeb we moved from Puppet (big and clanky, hard to write) to Ansible (fast to execute and write) and thought we were making progress, but now I think that a language implemented in YAML is always basically bad, and that declarative is better than procedural, even when it comes at a greater cost.
Scheme is an actual language, and not YAML. Guix is nothing is not declarative. I'll continue to bang my head against it.
