Started doing CNC cutting with H, which also means the Thinkpad T480 I was going to sell a few months ago has been dragged out of the "to sell" pile and pressed into action as a dedicated CNC machine. It's a laptop I don't care about being exposed to the garage environment -- it wouldn't have fetched a high price, either and it's definitely been used hard in the five years that I've had it.
I've set up a new threaded-insert based spoil board to replace the T-slot style one that I had. I had threaded inserts right back at the start of my CNC journey and I've come back around to thinking that they're superior.
Made a midnight trip to the DC to reboot tilde.town. I'd love to avoid doing that again- currently investigating sending sysrq triggers over the serial port. Then I spent a whole evening with Pawan trying to make two implementations of JWT happy with each other. Gave up. Sometimes the simple things aren't simple.
Similarly: sometimes things are (still) comparatively simple, but that doesn't mean trivial. My hubris in attempting to write my first Airflow DAG and my first dbt transformation at the same time (and have it work) was met with reality: I need to actually learn some stuff first.
Speaking of which, I got to meet with some dbt Labs folks and talk about scaling architectures. It was fun to revisit some decisions that I was either involved in or privy to over my career.
Finally caught up on some house stuff while the season is turning -- much weeding and have installed the outdoor security light I bought last year.
