Caught up with some homelab stuff today.
I have PCIe passthrough for NVMe disks working on my Alpine Linux host -- the key was disabling Intel RST / VMD using a hidden(!) UEFI BIOS option. Why tho? Also needed to blacklist some devices from being picked up by the NVMe driver, which was easier because I wasn't also booting from NVMe.
Man. Alpine is nice, yo!
I might see if I can pass through a network card into these VMs. Three VMs with 8GiB RAM and 3x CPUs without over-committing should work fine and be useful for anything I could want from a homelab, I think?
Not as nerdy, but I set up DecentSampler via MIDI on my laptops to allow for noodling. It's fun! I mean I knew it was fun, but I've re-remembered.
I've since installed Reaper and VCV Rack (all stuff I've bought in the past).
