Not exactly technical work but I pulled out several metres of vestigial HVAC ductwork. The house extension had a mini-split installed last year and the vents have been closed in that room since -- but they still leak cold/hot air, and we felt like pushing air through the old system was contributing to generally low pressure/flow of air to the rest of the house. Also it was just in the way -- significantly removing literal headroom from the basement where it was routed.
The whole situation in Ruby-land is a downer. I like the language but there's no getting away from the ecosystem being dominated by a) DHH and b) Shopify. It's funny that I preferred Python for so long and now that I work at a company which is all-in on Python, I finally discover that I prefer Ruby's semantics.
I fixed the CNC after it broke last week. The classic: X/Y loses position, smacks a cutter into a piece of wood so hard that it pops the Z-axis off. This time it broke a GT2 pulley, which I have repaired with a washer. I have a love/hate relationship with this machine 😅
A new PostgreSQL dropped with goodies. Every day the decision to leave MySQL behind feels better and better.
