I am in the pocket of Big Duck (DB).
I fixed up one of the Bluetti batteries -- well really I took it apart and I "reset" the BMC (I pulled the wire and then I plugged it back in, while it was charging). That does seem to have brought it back to life though, so you can't argue with results. I've written "Bad Battery" on the top to make it clear it's sus -- and I don't think I'll be charging it without being nearby again.
A reasonable work-week -- I did a lot of sketch DBA stuff and not a lot of writing code, but that's okay. Someone has to do it and there's fewer people to do that kind of thing then there is to sling code.
The final 10Gbit NIC that I needed arrived (along with an HBA for SAS disks) so I installed that and now my homelab is all 10G. It didn't improve Ceph performance as much as I expected actually, but then I am using pretty basic consumer-grade disks. It's probable I was barely pushing the 1Gbit network that hard with a mere 5x SATA spinning disks.
I've ordered more fibre and some SFP+ modules though, so I can get rid of the (stiff, hard to route) coaxial DAC cables in my home rack and switch over to (futuristic, easy to route) multi-mode fibre instead.
