2025–W41 #
Damn it was a tiring week. No single thing in particular, just days stretched at both ends; not just with work (but definitely with work) -- also with friends and commitments. Anyway: Thanksgiving on Monday. A chance to relax.
I still have a fair few i915-related Linux crashes. The machine doesn't crash hard but GNOME Shell does and I don't trust the state of the computer after and I generally reboot. My processes are all dead anyway, I might as well have a fresh hardware and kernel state.
My Guix experiments from last week have not borne much fruit but I will resume soon. I've also got a pile of Colocataires to catch up on -- both blogging and doing.
Steamdeck in the living room has lead to H and I playing some Word Play, which has been fun (it's not on consoles) and I've been able to play Gears Tactics on whichever computer makes sense (although it's much, much prettier on the gaming PC).
I saw that Julia Evans has switched to Helix for pretty much the same reason that I did; that most of her Neovim config was creating the experience you get out of the box with Helix. I stole some of her remappings to make things more pleasant for me and I formally uninstalled vim and neovim. We're going all-in, baby.
