2026–W27 #
Shipped a small thing at work but it had decent impact. That's pleasing.
I had a really great Canada Day, the weather was impressive (stormy) and I did a bunch of Colocataires stuff but also a lot of homelab / personal server things, setting up my new mail server for Epworth and Rueful domains. A pleasant day of computers, while it was too hot (and wet) to go outside and even too hot in the garage to make something or work on my bikes.
That is, until 9PM, when I walked downstairs to check out a weird noise and found ~12cm of water in the basement.
Then I fell through a box I was standing on (so that I wasn't standing in water, throwing breakers). I turned off the power and we saved some stuff and generally panicked until just before midnight when we got a transfer pump working (left over from the hot-tub that the house used to have). It moves a lot of water (thankfully), and it was "dry" (no standing water on the ground) by 3AM. It's still not really "dry" -- it's like 80% humidity and the floor is mostly dark -- like after it rains -- but the worst is behind us.
Homes! They are sometimes a burden.
Off to SF next week, so the timing isn't great but it's also better than it happening next week, I suppose.
